So the holidays are here, the kids have finished school and you're left trying to string together a carefully budgeted plan of activities for them to do over the next few weeks.

1. A visit to Just Desserts

This new addition to Ashford town centre has got kids (young & old) buzzing with excitement! It's amazing what the promise of a sweet treat can do! Pop by the new dessert parlour on Bank Street and treat the family to American style waffles, crepes, milkshakes and 22 choices of Italian gelato!

2. Free Face Painting at County Square

Head over to the Main Square in County Square Shopping Centre every Wednesday & Saturday throughout August and get the kid's faces painted for free! It will keep them entertained for a few hours as they take on the persona of their favourite animal or superhero and best of all, it won't cost you a penny!

3. The Ashford Pirate Treasure Trail - Saturday 6th August

As part of the 5 Weeks of Summer event, Ashford shops are pulling together to host a Pirate Treasure Trail on Saturday 6th August. Collect an entry form from participating stores, unravel the clues and collect a prize from the Loveashford gazebo at the bandstand! 

It's free to enter and there are lots of prizes to be won.

4. Ashford Farmers' Market - Sunday 7th August

On the first Sunday of the month, Ashford Farmer's Market can be found on the lower high street next to the fountain. 

The cobbles will be packed with freshly made goodies, local produce and even some buzzy-bees making their Kent honey! Take the kids along between 10am - 2pm for a spot of lunch, tasty pastry, piece of cake or even some luxury fudge to take home for an afternoon treat! 

5. Workshops for Kids at Emporia Fabric & Craft

Emporia Fabric & Craft in Park Mall has a great little hideaway for kids to learn a new craft and keep out of trouble! 

Tried, tested & highly recommended, pick a cool pattern and let them make a cushion (9th August), a simple skirt (23rd August) or even learn to make a pencil case (30th August).

6. Free Baking Taster Classes with Cookery Doodle Doo - Saturday 20th August

Yet another activity on the 5 Weeks of Summer Calendar, Cookery Doodle-Doo will be hosting bake-free recipe sessions and cake decorating for kids on Saturday 20th August. 

Head over to Park Mall between 10am - 3pm and sit with a coffee outside The Little Teapot whilst they get stuck in, for free!

7. Kippy's Paint Your Own Pottery

Another popular favourite from Ashford's high street, Kippy's is a surprising oasis tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the high street. Take the kids along to the studio and let them pick a piece of pottery to paint or decorate how they wish.

8. Princess Characters Meet & Greet at Park Mall - Saturday 27th August

The Practically Perfect Party Princess & friends will be visiting Park Mall in Ashford on 27th August for a special meet and greet with town centre shoppers!

Elsa, Anna and Cinderella will be visiting stores, saying hello and making new friends from 10am - 3pm.

9. Free Day Trips with Sk8side Ashford

Every summer Sk8side Youth Centre hold free trips to keep the kids entertained throughout the holidays. 

The trips are organised on a first-come-fist-serve basis, so pop into the centre opposite the skate park on Tannery Lane to pick up a brochure and find out what's on! 

10. Martial Art Taster Sessions at Park Mall - 3rd September

Karate Leadership UK will be in Park Mall Shopping Centre on Saturday 3rd September with free taster sessions for kids to come along and get involved. 

Find them in the mall from 10am - 3pm and discover why martial arts is great for engaging kids in a positive and stimulating way.
