The world’s biggest coffee morning is just around the corner, taking place in thousands of homes, offices and village halls on the 30th September 2016 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support
Whether this is your first or you've hosted one before, here are our 5 steps to help you host the perfect coffee-sipping, cake-gobbling, fund-raising morning!
If you haven’t decided already, pick a venue that will be big enough to cater for your guests. Once you’ve decided on the location you can start to promote your coffee morning. Send out personal invites to your VIPs, emails to your colleagues and a Facebook event to all your social media followers.
Remember to post your event daily online to get it as much attention as possible, the more people you reach the more people will attend.
Macmillan will send you a free support kit for your coffee morning when you register with them online. You can do this at coffeeregister.macmillan.org.uk.
You may not want to take on all the planning and cake baking yourself, so why not team up with friends and colleagues. Welcoming your guests and doing the refills will be easier and much more fun with friends!
If you need some baking inspiration, why not pop into The Works in County Square Shopping Centre and pick up a bargain. Wow your guests with ideas from Mary Berry's Fast Cakes for just £7.99.
If you don’t fancy baking but don’t mind faking then there are lots of places you can pick up ready made and homemade goodies from the town centre. M&S on Ashford high street offer freshly baked goods from their in-store bakery or pre-order bundles of delicious cakes with their Food to Order service.
As much as we all love a good slice of cake, remember to cater for your savory lovers too. You may want to consider a spread of finger sized sandwiches or some puff pastry slices.
Display your cakes with a bit of charm and you're guaranteed to sell sell sell! Chip in with friends and pick up some pretty cake stands and napkins from Wilko.
At the end of your coffee morning auction off your left-over treats to raise some extra pennies. Don't forget to pick up some boxes and bags for those taking away.
You can support Loveashford for the Macmillan coffee morning by joining us at Regus at the Panorama on Friday 30th September.
