​This week saw an exciting programme of singer-songwriters curated by Ashford College Music, take to the band stand on Thursday for our musical pleasure.

The successful collection of performances from artists including Jimmy Phillips and Nina Clark, were well received by Ashford shoppers and music lovers alike. Complimenting the beautiful sunshine, the sounds of Summer Strum ran up and down the High Street for all to enjoy.

The event truly set a bench mark for the standard of quality musical performances Ashford is yet to see this summer and was just the beginning of the treats in store. So you don’t miss another beat, here’s what other musical events are coming up throughout the months of June & July.

The Mozart Question with Michael Morpurgo - Sunday 28th June

Michael Morpurgo OBE, author of the classic war story War Horse, is joined by actress Alison Reid, violinist Daniel Pioro and The Story Teller’s Ensemble to bring to life The Mozart Question. Together they interweave music and words to tell a haunting tale, set against the backdrop of the Holocaust.

Expect intense drama and exquisite classical music and a journey unlike any other.

Striking Matches - Thursday 9th July

Guitar-wielding duo Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis, occupy a sweet spot at the intersection of country, rock and blues where all the elements blend to form an authentically raw and rootsy sound.

Their first performances in London saw sell-out shows and their debut self-titled EP was named among iTunes Best of 2012.

Friday Gaz Coombes - 24th July 2015

This highly anticipated event is expected to be one of this years musical highlights for Ashford. Highly acclaimed solo-artist and pop maverick Gaz Coombes, returns to Ashford with a performance to mark the 20th birthday of Ashford’s Create Festival.
