July’s Farmers’ Market is set to be an extra special one as Sunday will see the Market celebrate it’s first birthday.

The birthday market will be held on Sunday 5th July from 10am to 2pm on the Lower High Street. There will be everything from homemade delights by our much-loved traders to music and entertainment from local artists including the Norton Knatchball Stompers Jazz Band, to add to the market’s atmosphere.

What’s more, we’ve teamed up with Simply Ice Cream who will be making two very special limited edition ice creams using local produce from our very own traders.

One will be creamy strawberry using home-grown fruit donated by PJ’s Farm Shop, while the other will be decadent Venezuelan Chocolate from Sylvia and Terry Chocolates.

After spending £3 or more in the market, visitors will receive a voucher which can be redeemed for a free hessian Farmers’ Market bag and a pot of ice cream; simply head to the Information Stall to receive your free goodies!

There will be plenty of other food on offer too to tantalise your taste buds, including sensuous Nigerian curries from Jays, fresh pieces of locally sourced meat from Stour Valley Game and Ritoweg Farm, plus refreshing beverages from Rough Old Wife Cider.

A host of new guest traders will be joining our regulars this month for our special birthday market, adding to our diverse selection of sweet and savoury treats. Luscious Pickings will be serving up some award-winning preserves while Paramour Pie Club will be offering hearty filled pastries including their Full English Breakfast Pie.

Ashford Borough Council’s Farmers’ Market Manager, Rachel Heather, said:
