On Tuesday 23rd August 2016, contracts were exchanged with Marks & Spencer bosses confirming plans to open a new M&S Simply Food store in one of Ashford’s popular out-of-town retail parks.
The stirring news surrounding the luxury food retailer’s move to Warren Retail Park near Bybrook was made public on Thursday morning, much to the excitement of Ashford residents and customers of the M&S brand.
Knowing the quality products that Simply Food has to offer, the new store is a welcomed addition to the town’s high-end attractive brands ... but what does this mean for our popular high street store?
"This is very positive news for Ashford and we welcome the announcement. I am pleased that this store is a response from M&S to customer demand and that it is clearly in addition to their established high street retail store. In the conversations that I have had with M&S, I am assured this will have no impact on their town centre offer.”
Cllr Graham Galpin - Portfolio holder for Ashford town centre
Ashford’s town centre Marks & Spencer store will continue to trade as normal, continuing to offer high-quality fashion, beauty and food products to its regular town centre customers.
So if M&S is your regular lunch-time stop for luxury filled sandwiches, or if freshly made treats from the in-house bakery are right up your street, then fret not as they’re all here to stay.
As one of our valued Healthy High Street members, M&S County Square continues to provide time & resources into high street events and shopper incentives, investing in our town centre regeneration story and the future of our high street.
