Years of extensive planning and development means that Ashford's skyline is about to change for the better, but if there are three town centre projects you should know about, it's these.

1. Commercial Quarter (CQ38)

Just off Station Road in Ashford’s town centre, spades are in the ground and work has begun on the town’s latest commercial development.

The Commercial Quarter, set to be a thriving business hub for the town, gets its nickname from Ashford’s renowned 38-minute link to London by high speed rail. The development, which was launched in 2017, is a stone’s throw from the International station, offering businesses a connection to the capital with a fantastic advantage over those paying the price for a London based office.

The 80,500 square feet of adaptable office space is a big nod towards where Ashford will be in the next few years, making it one to watch.

2. Ashford College Campus

If you haven’t caught a glimpse of Ashford’s new college campus yet then it’s time to look up!

The magnificent building with its copper clad frontage, sits on the corner of Elwick Road & Station Road; minutes from the domestic station and within close reach of the new Commercial Quarter site.

The development, which began in January 2016, represents £16 million worth of investment and will open its doors in September 2017 to more than 1000 students and 100 members of staff.

Whilst the original campus was not far from the town, the move from Jemmet Road means this vibrant community of people will now be in the heart of Ashford, drastically changing the dynamic of the town centre and helping to support the town’s economy at its heart.

3. Elwick Place

From Ashford’s popular County Square shopping centre, cross the shared space and what do you see? Whilst this brownfield site doesn’t offer much yet, on paper this zone represents £75 million worth of investment that will drastically reshape this end of the town.

The first phase of the development will include a stunning 6 screen Picture House cinema, a hotel to support the town’s growing tourist economy and ample space for new restaurants and bars.

The highly anticipated Elwick Place is expected to drastically turn around the town’s night-time economy and boost efforts that are already taking place to change perceptions of Ashford town centre.
