Ashford Borough Council will be hosting an event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day at St Mary’s Church in the town centre.
Holocaust Memorial Day commemorates the victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution during WWII as well as the subsequent genocides of Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
The event will take place on Friday 27th January between 10am - 2pm.
The day will begin with a church service followed by an exhibition that details the history of the genocides and chronicles the life stories of some of the survivors.
This years theme for Holocaust Memorial Day is, ‘How Can Life Go On?’ and focuses on life after genocide for those affected. It explores issues surrounding displacement, refugees and rebuilding communities.
There will be information packs for visitors to take away, as well as educational resources for teachers to support classroom learning for GCSE and A-Level students.
