Over the last couple of weeks, store owner Clair Heal has been working hard to reopen her Bank Street shop into the larger premises of 24, Park Mall.
Clair had been looking for a larger shop to run her independent business. The move came about after talks with Ashford’s town centre Regeneration team and the recent works that have been happening to the Park Mall Shopping Centre to revitalise the space.
Now Emporia Fabric & Craft is now fully open to Park Mall shoppers and has just enjoyed it’s first weekend of trade!
Clair explained that their first Saturday was fantastic, seeing a much higher footfall to the store than ever before.
The newly refurbished shop boasts plenty of space for the business to grow and allows Clair the ability to host a Knit & Natter group for the public every Friday from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. There will also be the opportunity to take part in workshops and classes where you can pick up valuable crafting skills such as kitting, quilting, how to use a sewing machine and more!
There’s an array of fabrics and haberdashery to buy, as well as knitting patterns, wool, wadding for patchwork and quilting, hand-made cards, cushions, clothing and jewelry too!
The independent store is also home to local artisans including Aye-Aye Boutique, Lucy Alice Designs, Richardson & Richardson and Lotte Jamieson.
If you haven’t already popped in store to see the range of goodies for yourself, there’s a chance this week to visit Emporia at a special opening-ceremony for the Park Mall Shopping Centre. The opening will be held Wednesday 22nd July from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. You’ll be able to grab yourself a drink and some nibbles and browse and buy from the selection on offer.
Don’t forget you can park for free in the Edinburgh Road car park behind the Park Mall everyday from 3:00pm - 7:00pm.
