Manageress Jane Padgham of Linda’s Florist in Ashford high street, secured herself a deserved spot in the 2018 finals of the Chelsea Flower Show.
Jane, who has been working for the well-known florist shop for 21 years, impressed judges at this year’s heats back in January with her beautiful handmade design, which was created for the theme ‘a winter wedding in a Scottish castle’.
Her colleague, Julie spoke proudly of Jane, explaining,
“It took many days to make as the stole had to be made out of fabric first before the plant material could be added. Jane then covered the stole in blue mulberry bark before sewing pussy willow buds around rolled leaves to make the little flowers. All the larger leaf shapes were then woven out of China grass.”
For the finals, Jane will have to create an entirely new design for the design brief ‘a throne for a spring wedding’.
Her work will be on display at the Chelsea Flower Show from Thursday 24th – Saturday 26th May 2018.
